One single book

It´s marathon for Prabhupada
distributing books on the street
but I am absorbed in selfish thoughts
full of lust and envy and greed
but Sri Krishna is so endless merciful
he uses me as a tool
let me distribute
just one single book
to another fool

he understood it´s something about
increasing well being like money and sex
but he realized just after two pages
this has nothing to do with material succsess
disappointed he got the inspiration
to give it as a donation
to the bookshop
so he took part
in the world wide liberation

two weeks later a girl with glasses
searching for pictures and art
she found the book between all the masses
the book from Srila Prabhupada
and she took it home she ripped the pictures out
she pinned them over her bed
she didn´t know why
or that she´s saved now
from the worsed threat

her big brother was into Asia
zen-buddhism and meditation
he found the book in her armoire
and reading whole night he was in fascination
but he lost the book in the bus
he never went on
he became a buddhist-monk
but in his next life he took birth as
a devotee´s son

but the busdriver found the book
it was allready quite broken and worn
he took it home for his wife as a present
because she loved books and collected them all
every week she cleaned her books with whole heart
she never read one single word
but it changed her endless journey
through this universe

the years went by, her grandchild grew
the only one who read the books on the shelf
and one day he found a very nice book
without any pictures called "The Beauty of the Self"
and from this day on he never became the same
his heart got inflamed
by divine love
he was searching for the highest aim

now the book is back in the temple
nearly damaged but still sublime
he brought it with him when he joined and moved in
and now he is on marathon for the first time
but today he is not at all in a very good mood
he tries hard to distribute
just one single book
to another fool
just one single book

now imagine what´s going on
on this planet since 40 years
what devotees have undergone
because Srila Prabhupada was so sincere
everyday thousands of books full of worth
are travelling over the earth
saving millions
from the circles
of death and birth

This story was of course not my Idea, many devotees, I remember especially KrishnaChaitanya Bramacari, had already this idea to follow the way of a book and what it is influencing and experiencing. Like "Sankirtan" I wrote this song for the Sankirtanfestival 2010. Originally, Johannes wanted to play with his clarinet for this song, but we didn´t have enough time and his instrument got damaged somehow, but we have fixed planes to make more together.
